Getting down to business…

immixdesign | March 8, 2010

lifelens-bcard

The Lifelens Coaching logo has been finalized and now it is time to explore the world of business card layout. Business cards are an important aspect of who you are and what you stand for as a company. Your business card is often your first impression and the only reference potential clients have for the future. When someone picks up your card how does it feel? Do they notice a paper weight or texture? Do you want them to notice these things? What about the information on the card, is it cluttered or hard to read? These are all things to consider when designing a business card. At Immix Design we believe that when you pick up a business card it should say something even before you begin to read what is actually on the card. A thick and sturdy paper weight suggests that a company has a solid foundation. Carefully selecting a specific paper weight and stock gives that company a custom representation, rather than a generic blend. When we design business cards the first thing we do is establish what information the client finds necessary. Once the information has been confirmed we begin to create a layout that best represents the company.

LifeLens Coaching is a truly passionate company that really desires to know their clients and provide them with the best fit for their life and career. We took this idea into the drawing room and began to transform it into a visual representation. LifeLens primary clientele are female professionals searching for their next career move or step in life. Our color palette and design was selected to best appeal to this demographic. We are in the early stages of the design process but look forward to seeing what paper stock they choose as well as how the final product turns out. Take a look at the current business card design.

Small Business Printing Tip

immixdesign | August 1, 2009

Online printing.

Over the past few years our small design firm has proactively chosen to use online printing for our marketing and advertising needs. Often times the cost of using off-set printing can be detrimental to your small business budget. We have been very pleased with the outcome of our online printing vendors.

www.48hourprint.com not only provides a speedy turn around, they also produce quality printing. We have used them on a number of occasions such as, employee business cards, door hangers and postcards.

www.vistaprint.com is also an online vendor that we have used in the past. Searching for quality postcards that do not break the pocketbook can be challenging at times. We have found Vista Print to fulfill those requirements.

www.absorbentprinting.com has been a great resource for custom printed full color magnets. The pricing was right and the product was reliable. We have also ordered large scale car magnets from Absorbent as well.

Another benefit to printing online is that the companies will provide free sample packs for you to have as a reference. It is so nice to compile the samples and refer to them so you know exactly what you will be getting. As a small business with many printing needs, we can happily say that using online printing has been very satisfying.

Devoted Design

dedicated balance

Immix Design had the opportunity to work directly with Dedicated Balance, a brand new bookkeeping company located in Ballard, Washington. Small business to small business we were able to connect and establish a genuine working relationship. We first took a look at what Dedicated Balance is all about. From there we collectively translated the foundation of the company into a visual expression.

Dedicated Balance is reliable, straight forward and concise. When they say they will do something you know it will be done. These are characteristics that we saw and experienced on a personal level not because we read their resume or mission statement. Strong relationships allow for open communication and in return produce the most direct and accurate work. We love for clients to be open and honest about their experience and design aspirations.

As a result of being a new business they were conscious of their printing budget. Taking this into consideration we connected them to Victory Graphics, another small business located in the greater Seattle area. Victory Graphics provided them with beautiful business cards for under $300. It pays to know the small guys!

We also had the opportunity to create their website as well. See it go live after May 1st at dedicatedbalance.com
