Memorable Images, “the beginnings…”

immixdesign | May 7, 2009

Memorable Images presents nothing but the best lighthouses, landscapes and breathtaking scenery from across the globe. Immix Design has the opportunity to work with their spectacular photographs. The end goal is to perfect a website that not only embodies their talent but also provides a clear and easy way to purchase prints.

The drawing board is always the first and most important step to work out ideas, visions and begin to brainstorm. Panoramic was what came to mind when we set out to design a layout for the website. The photographs are the point, the main focus and what we want viewers to see first. The pictures do speak for themselves but we also want to make sure the layout provides a strong foundation to accomplish this vision.

Check out the beginnings…

Dedicated Balance is Live!

immixdesign | May 1, 2009

Dedicated Balance Bookkeeping has breached the world wide web with candor and charisma. DBB strives to manifest integrity and true accomplishment in the work that they do. We wanted to see those characteristics reflected in the visual aspects of their online interface.

We started with the concept of “balance” and developed the layout and imagery from this foundation. From the navigational buttons to the stacked rocks you feel a sense of symmetry. Creating a clean and simple consistency throughout the site helps viewers grasp the overall objective.

Take a look at a few pages from the site…

Howdy Neighbor!

immixdesign | April 30, 2009

As Immix Design redirects its clientele and moves toward building relations with small businesses we decided what better way to spread the word than through a fun personal mailer. We decided to extend a greeting to our Kirkland neighbors and let them know that we are close by and would love to get to know them.

Immix has taken a liking to our little amphibian friend and decided he would make the best impression and help provide our contact information. Here is a little insight into our design strategy…

frog_mailer3Straight to the drawing board (my sketchbook made from the blank side of old printed sheets) I attacked the mailer with warm ideas of spring. We wanted to provide a refreshing fun piece that was not only informative but personal. In order to accomplish this we went for a homemade mailer that is unique and enjoyable. Our little amphibian friend granted us with just the right touch.

After our successful sketching session we were ready to make it digital. Starting with the front of the piece we went with a belly band feel to give it some dimension. Simple and clean was the goal – we believe that design does not need to be packed full of imagery to be good. Moving to the back created a few complications as we debated about how to handle the attachment.  A die cut was the solution, it allowed for us to create an open and close element.

The final step and also a step that we don’t always get to partake in was the assembly of the piece. Cropping and marking the final design we printed the different parts and began to cut. Needless to say the production proved to be quite therapeutic and rewarding at the same time!
